My Story

Did you know? While The Rowan was the first book I started plotting, it isn’t the first book I published? My Salvation, a standalone Why Choose romance set in Montana, was my first book. The Rowan is my most popular book. So, why did I start with My Salvation? Proof of concept. I’d never written or published a book. I didn’t want to start with the book I had been thinking about for so long. And you know what? My Salvation gained its own fans who followed me to the next book - The Rowan.

How did I get into writing? I was working in digital for big clients but I was burnt out. My dream job but I was dragging myself to work. I needed a break. Time off to figure out if I still wanted to follow that path. So, I (gulp) gave my notice. Worst case - I would return. (I saved a lot in order to do this without making things hard on my family.)

When I told my husband, he asked what I was going to actually do during this break. I sort of panicked and tossed out, “I’ll write a romance book.” I’d always thought about it but not seriously and he knew it. He reminded me that I’d never even written a paragraph…much less a story. Challenge accepted. Eight months after leaving my job, I released My Salvation.

Here I am, six years later and still dreaming up new books every day. I love it.
